This doggo is part of the "Travel Ban Lifted" Transport that arrived on July 15, 2021. All dogs will be available for adoption on Saturday, July 24, 2021.
St Croix was a stray and has little socialization experience. She was taken in with several other dogs that are currently in "Becoming a House Pet" therapy. We take our time with these dogs... we allow them to decompress fully before asking much of them. Once they have established that human beings are not harmful, we begin socialization training which includes learning about leashes, being handled by humans, interacting with other dogs and how great it feels to be a pet! We are happy to say that St. Croix has been taken in by a foster family and is doing very well! She is coming out of her shell and learning to relax and play!
As of right now, we are not recommending these dogs go to households with children under 12 (or over 12 if that child is looking for a fun and playful dog to bond with).
*Remember - AFO DOES NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION or guesses as to breed from dogs pulled out of high euthanasia risk shelters!
