FAQ

If you are interested in a Dog/Puppy or Cat/Kitten we have on our website please fill out the appropriate application (dog vs cat). Applications are processed as quickly as possible but please be patient as we are all volunteers with jobs and families.

If you submitted an application – you will hear from an Adoption Coordinator shortly.  If it has been more than 7 days, please email adoptions@allfurone.org  If you have already been in touch with an Adoptions Coordinator, please contact them directly for status updates and additional information regarding your application status.  If you are not sure who your Adoption Coordinator is, please email adoptions@allfurone.org  If you have not submitted an application – this is the first step before any additional conversations will occur.  If you have not applied, please visit our “Adopt” page.

We accept out-of-state applications for dogs only.

Cat adopters must reside in New Jersey.

We ALWAYS take any cat or dog that was adopted from All Fur One Pet Rescue back into our care if you are no longer able to keep them. We require, per the signed contract, that they be surrendered back to us.

We do not however take owner surrenders of dogs that were not adopted from us. If you need to rehome your (non-AFO) pet please use Adopt a Pet's Rehoming Your Pet program to find a good home for them.
Rehoming Your Pet

If the pet was adopted from another rescue please reach out to them, most will take their animals back.

We have limited space and can occasionally take personal cats. Please fill out our waitlist if you are looking to rehome your cat:

Stray Cat:
Many "stray cats" actually have an owner and are indoor/outdoor cats. If the cat looks healthy try asking neighbors if they know who it belongs to. Check/post on social media for lost cats or a neighborhood page if anyone knows who the cat belongs to.

Place flyers in the neighborhood. Report the pet to your local shelter.

Go to Petco Love Lost to report the found pet.

If the cat is friendly but looks sick take it to a vet for treatment and have them check for a microchip.

Feral Cat:

Most "feral" cats cannot be socialized if they have never had human contact before. If you are feeding a feral cat(s) it is your responsibility to make sure that the cats are fixed to prevent additional kittens from being born. Kittens:
Before taking kittens you find please assess the situation.

Do they look healthy?
Do they look sick?
How old are they?
Where are they located? Is it a safe area?
Do you have a plan on how to help if you take them?

Cat Surrender Form

All pets listed on our website are available for adoption, unless listed as "pending adoption". Pre-Approved adopters will be given first opportunity to select from our new arrivals.

All Pre-Approved adopters may adopt from our available adoptable dogs and cats within 3 months from the time they are pre-approved. At this time, if you are listing a specific puppy or small, highly desirable dog as your first and/or only choice, it is highly unlikely that specific adoptable will be available by the time your application is approved.  We do not guarantee or hold any adoptable pet.

Anyone interested in adopting is highly encouraged to consider opening your home to the many other dogs/cats/kittens that need homes that are available or to apply to become a Pre-Approved adopter.

AFO DOES NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION or guesses as to breed from dogs pulled out of high euthanasia risk shelters.

Visually identifying a breed is proven to be highly inaccurate.  Therefore, we do not know or guarantee breeds.

Unless an adult already, puppies can grow anywhere from 5-95lbs!

Regarding “hypoallergenic dogs” – we very rarely find them in kill-shelters and if we do, they are offered to pre-approved adopters before the general public.

We very rarely find genuine and true “hypoallergenic” animals in kill-shelters and if we do, they are offered to pre-approved adopters before the general public.

Please consider thoroughly reading about the truthfulness of hypoallergenic animals and exploring new allergy shots available and used safely by many animal loving humans.

We are not currently open to the public.  Pre-approved adopters may schedule Virtual or In Person Meet & Greets with adoptable pets with their Adoptions Coordinator.

We are always looking to add to our Volunteer Team!  New volunteers submit an application, attend orientation and then meet with a Trainer at the facility to apply all they learned!  Volunteers are asked to help at least twice a month in the facility.  If you cannot volunteer in person we also are looking for virtual volunteers to help process applications and other things that can be done off site. We love when kids want to volunteer!

*Age 6-14 can help alongside a parent/guardian taking care of our kitties.

*Age 14-16 can volunteer with a parent/guardian caring for dogs (some restrictions) and/or cats.

*Age 16+ can volunteer with another adult (including a nonrelated volunteer that is 18+ years)

We are always looking to add to our Foster Team!  We go on rescue missions approximately every 4-5 weeks and always need temporary homes for puppies, kittens and adult dogs and cats!

We do not allow “Foster for Keeps” to first time fosters.  We recommend reading over the Foster Page below for additional details.

Scouts To The Rescue Program

We gladly can help your Girl Scout or Cub/Boy Scout troop earn a patch or badge.

We don't currently have a specific program in place but we welcome troops that would like to visit and we can help with requirements to earn the badges.

We also accept checks payable to “All Fur One” and mailed directly to our facility.

We can accept towels, hand towels, small blankets and pillow cases. No sheets or large comforters.

We do accept any type of food as well as partially opened bags of food (must be sealed tight when dropped off).

For many young people, their first experience with philanthropy comes out of their love of animals. By collaborating with All Fur One Rescue, schools can move forward with creating long-lasting, increased engagement with students who have become isolated and distanced due to recent societal events. It is a way of reengaging students into a community of like-minded people in an environment that fosters compassion and encourages exploration of thought and emotions. It will empower students to do good and create awareness. It is a way for teachers to connect with their students and foster social emotional learning and healing. Students may become more thoughtful, empathetic, and civic minded citizens.
